The Pattern Recognition and Machine Intelligence Association (PREMIA) is a professional non-profit society registered in Singapore. It was formed in 2004, bringing together professors, lecturers, researchers, engineers, and students from academia, research institutes, and industry communities based in Singapore.
The aim of the society is to provide a forum for research in pattern recognition and machine intelligence, covering applied domains such as computer vision, image processing, speech analysis, robotics, multimedia, document analysis, character recognition, knowledge engineering, fractal analysis, and intelligent control. The methods involved include statistical techniques, neural networks, evolutionary programming, fuzzy logic, machine learning, and hardware implementation, among others.
The society organizes seminars, courses, and conferences to disseminate relevant knowledge and information to the community. It serves as a platform for members to exchange ideas and network.
The governing body of the society is the Board Committee, which is elected every two years.
PREMIA recognizes high-quality research and has been issuing Best Student Paper Awards annually since 2004. It also provides Student Travel Grant Awards to student members for attending the International Conference on Pattern Recognition each year.
PREMIA is affiliated with the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), and PREMIA members are encouraged to participate in IAPR activities.
